The Trust are working on a number of projects at Elvaston. Many of these will sit alongside the delivery of the Masterplan. We will provide project updates as these progress.

Business Plan

We are now developing a business plan which will support and explain the way in which the Masterplan will be delivered and managed to ensure that Elvaston is truly self-sustaining and able to achieve the economic, social and environmental impacts which underpin our work.

The Sunken Garden Restoration

Restoration of the sunken garden and tunnel which was one of many garden rooms created by William Barron at Elvaston

Garden Wall Fundraising

A project to raise money to restore the remaining unrestored garden wall along the north side of the walled gardens

William Barron Trail

Raising money to produce a Wiliam Barron trail connecting Elvaston to other Barron gardens including Broomfield Hall, Biddulph Grange and Betley Court.

Clock Tower Range Restoration

This County Council led project will see the clock tower range at Elvaston repaired and restored – this means a new roof and internal structural work. On completion the building will be ready for conversion to a new commercial use.

Tree Trail

Developing an educational trail around the park to celebrate the incredible legacy of Barron’s pioneering Tree Transplanting Machine and hit love of evergreen trees which is explored in his book ‘The British Winter Garden: Being a Practical Treatise on Evergreens; Showing Their General Utility in the Formation of Garden and Landscape Scenery’.
